We wanted a better sports league. So we started one.
New Friends Sports is a Denver-based adult rec soccer league, founded by players who were tired of some of the worst parts of rec sports: toxic competition, disorganized operations, and a transactional culture. So we built the kind of league we want to play in ourselves: one that is organized and welcoming, where genuine fun meets healthy competition. We play six seasons a year, and we offer a variety of competition levels so that Denver soccer players can find their perfect fit.
Player-founded. Player-focused.
New Friends Sports is locally owned and operated by Denver adult soccer players just like you. We're at the fields, and we play in the leagues. We believe that part of building a strong product is testing it and experiencing it ourselves. The standard we're trying to exceed is simple: is this a league we want to play in again next season?
Competitive but not ridiculous.
We distinguish healthy competition from toxic competition at New Friends Sports. Good rec sports should be able to hold winning, losing, and sportsmanship at the same time. And they shouldn't muddle aggression with hustle. We want close games, underdog goals, rivalries, and even a healthy dose of penalty shootouts in the playoffs. But we also want to play the game with respect for the emotional and physical security of our teammates and opponents so that we all can keep playing week in and week out.

Experience over profit.
New Friends is a small local business, but we're not trying to build the cheapest possible version of a sports league. We'd rather put money back into the things that make playing better.
That means prioritizing things like:
- Good, quality fields that are centrally located and well-maintained
- Refs who can manage all aspects of competitive games
- Committed staff who build communities rather than punch time clocks
- League shirts, custom team logos, unique playoff trophies, and other touches that make a season feel like more than a collection of games
- Player feedback and continually improving what we do
Our goal isn't to maximize single registrations. It's to create an experience good enough that when the next season opens, you want to play again.
A community for everyone.
The name New Friends wasn't an accident. We've all been a free agent at one time. Joining a sports league as an individual can be isolating. We're committed to integrating free agents into teams that stick together.
Further, we want everyone to feel like they belong on the field. We welcome players of different backgrounds, genders, identities, and experience levels, with a culture built around respect and sportsmanship. We're here to make teammates, not just play soccer.
